WHY WE MAKE FILMS
Documentary is advocacy.
Film has been part of Sher Pride's charitable and educational work since 2018. Each production is built to travel — into festivals, onto television, and into classrooms — paired with a discussion guide so audiences can turn a screening into a real conversation about sexuality, gender identity, and coming out within South Asian communities.

Both films are available with a facilitator-led discussion covering sexuality, gender identity, and coming out. Over 100 school screenings across BC to date.
Often screenings take place on dates like Transgender Day of Remembrance or June Pride month.

Through the Sundar Prize Film Festival, Sher Pride champion socially-conscious filmmakers from around the world — with nearly $20,000 CAD and over 30,000 in industry prizes for winning films tackling human rights, social justice, and 2SLGBTQ+ stories.
